It can be used as an assesment too! I did it for grade my first grade science students online and it worked SO GOOD!

This is a Power Point about the different types of materials that we know.

Students will learn to classify the materials into natural or man made and then, learn about which materials can sometimes, form another ones. 
For example: Metal and wood can form a table or a chair.

This is a small experiment/lab you can use to work on the effects of water on different materials!
Before starting the experiment, you can also show other objects that are not in the worksheet and ask what they think it will happen, and then actually showing them what happens. Then, explain what they have to do in the experiment so they can work on it.

I love to take my students out, to another classroom or a different teaching stage. The idea is to go wherever you want and try to find different objects that are made of those materials. There are some objects that they might not be sure, but it doesn't matter, just what they think!
Before they go to a place, make sure there are objects for every material, and if not, place some in different locations.

At the end of the class, discuss with them what they found.
