Activity to work on visual discrimination and tracing for younger children

It really motivates students to find their match! It is good, since they can move around the classroom and try different options. Don't miss the chance to remind them that every sentence begins with a capital letter and finishes with a period. 

These are the circles I used to play synonym twister. Download them and paste them on the floor as it shows in the picture. Then, project the PPT and start playing twister!
The PPT I uploaded it before is a template. You need to fill in the slides with the synonyms. 

This craft activity relates question words with pictures. The students have to cut the pictures and paste them in the petals. Then, they have to write the 5wh in the correct petal. You can use the flowers to decorate the classroom.

Objective: Understand that some words, when combined, can form a new words with a totally different meaning. 

The goal of this activity is for students to match the eggs with simple words with their corresponding "compound word chick", and understand the meaning of both, the simple words and the compound words. 

Objective: Use of vocabulary in context.

On this worksheet about hibernators, students need to use the words from the box to complete the paragraphs. For this, they must have some previous knowledge, such as some concepts and vocabulary related to hibernation, so they are able to apply the words correctly, according to the given context.

Objective: Reading Comprehension

Students read the text "History of Chocolate" and then answer questions to show  their understanding about it.
The first part consists of comprehension questions, which students can find just by reading the text again carefully.
The second part involves using vocabulary in context. Students must complete sentences using words from a given word bank, and apply them according to context clues.
Finally, students need to identify the main idea and details from the text.

Objective: Identify main idea and details on a text.

Students read the text "History of Chocolate", and on the next page they need to cut some parts of the text, and paste them according to whether they are the main idea or details. This resource can be used as practice, or to assess how well students are able to identify the main idea and the details on a text.

Objective: Reading fluency

This chart is for students to read aloud to somebody (it can be a big brother or sister, parents, grandparents, nanny, older cousin, etc.) and the idea is for the listener to evaluate the reader's fluency, and record it on the chart, so that the student can take it back to school and show it to his/her teacher.
It is suggested to use this resource at least once every 15 days, so the teacher can keep a record of the student's progress.

Objective: Identify the past tense of different verbs.

After learning the difference between regular and irregular verbs, and studying some of the irregular verbs and how they change in past tense, students read the sentences and choose the verb in the correct tense to fill the spaces.
