Objective: Understand a story - Understand and answer "Wh" questions.

Get students to watch and listen to the short story "The Lazy Bear". You can find it in the following link: https://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/es/short-stories/the-lazy-bear

After they have watched and listened to the story once or twice, have them read the questions, answer them and draw a picture.
Depending on the grade and level of autonomy of the class, students may answer it on their own, or they may do it as a class with the teacher's help.

Something that I use in reading comprehension. Students should roll a die and answer. You can adapt it depending on the ability you are focusing on.
Use a virtual die or a real one. Check this out!  https://freeonlinedice.com/

Story Time

After we read "The Colour Monster" by Anna Llenas we learned how to say in English our emotions.
In this Power Point you will find different emotions associated with a picture. At the end of the class each student write and draw on their copybook how are they feeling today.

During our Story time we read "The day the crayons quit" by Oliver Jeffers and the next class as a fun way to see how much the students could remember we play this board game. I split the class in two groups and they could work on teams answering each question.

This Power Point was created in order to work with 6th grade students in the Story Plot topic.

This material was used in 2/3 different classes because it is long and it requires a lot of work from them.

The idea is that they discuss about the previous knowledge about story parts and then, they come closer to each one of them and get to understand their definitions and which elements they include.

I selected two Pixar short stories but you can use any other story.

Hope you enjoy!

In this activity children listen to two short stories and then answer some questions. The vocabulary in the stories is included before the stories, so children can work first with the words and relate to them. After working with the short stories they can say if they like it or not by using their hands or saying  I like or I don't like and then answer the questions.
