The simple past is used for actions completed in the past, while the present perfect connects the past to the present by describing actions that began in the past but continue to the present day or may happen again. Make verb learning fun and engaging with this interactive PowerPoint presentation! Perfect for elementary ESL or EFL learners, this resource helps students distinguish between regular and irregular past tense verbs through simple questions and immediate feedback.
🧠 How it works:
Students are shown a verb and asked, “Can we add -ed?” They then choose between two options — one correct and one incorrect — to reinforce verb rules in a dynamic and visual way.

🎮 Why teachers love it:

✔️ Interactive and self-checking

🧠 ¿Cómo funciona?

🎮 ¿Por qué les encanta a los profesores?

✔️ Interactivo y autocorregible

✔️ Perfecto para clases completas, grupos pequeños o estaciones

✔️ Refuerza la gramática con repetición y apoyo visual

Some students struggle when learning irregular verbs. I know it is important to know the vocabulary. But I would suggest to focus on a small set of verbs. These verbs can be related to the main topic of the unit.
Download this worksheet to focus on these verbs or use the idea to create your own worksheet!

This video is great! It uses a friendly wat to explain past simple. ED is a time traveller who brings verbs to the past. How does he do it?
He just stands next to the verbs and they travel to the past!
It found this video in Youtube but you can also find it in https://www.nessy.com/

This is another video from https://www.nessy.com/
Now ED introduces Irregular Sue! Ed (time traveler), realizes he has no power on the verbs. They can't travel to the past! So it's time to call Irregular Sue. Sue changes the verbs by using her bubble gun.
You don't need to use all the verbs you see in video, but I like the way irregular verbs are introduced.
