¡Pon a prueba tu atención!

Hello, hello! Teacher Kris here!

This resource is for English teachers. It's a compilation of 6 tools in a PDF with links to Google Drive, including lesson plans, resources, and presentations to support activities.

1. NEVER HAVE I EVER VALENTINES EDITION
2. NEVER HAVE I EVER HUGS EDITION
3. STOP VALENTINES EDITION
4. DYNAMIC “A-PRECIOS”
A dynamic activity for appreciating others.
5. LESSON PLAN Hugging: Embracing the Power of Human Connection
6. HUGGING PRESENTATION

The intention is to use Valentine's Day as a pretext to practice English, but above all, to share and create knowledge together. Through fun games, we can get to know and recognize each other. I've also added a lesson plan about the power of hugs and a ready-to-read presentation that will allow us to generate dialogue and learn about the opinions and experiences of our students. I love Valentine's Day because it's also my birthday, and I hope you enjoy this material as much as I do.

I'm sending you a big virtual hug, and Happy Valentine's Day!
Kris Mega

This game is called RUN AND TOUCH.

It was used at the end of the first semester of prekinder, after students were able to recognize and name different objects, colors and numbers.

The rules are the following:
  • Each group is a team.
  • Each team choses one participant at a time.
  • The teacher says: Run and touch the ......
  • Students carefully "run" and touch the object in question.
  • First one to touch it gives his/her team a point.

They love it and it can be perfectly modified to other contents!

This domino is a great way to practice sight words. Students have to be able to read or at least identify the sight words while playing a game. My kids love it and its a fun way to improve their reading!

To learn about color blue, I used to sing with my students Baby Shark to associate the shark's color with the color blue. Preeschoolers love the song and dance, so it was always a very motivational activity. Once we learned the song, each student made a blue shark's crown.

Great game to play with big groups!
The teacher starts the game with card nº 1 (teacher card) and also has the teacher guide card in her hand to make sure nobody skips turns or words.
The teacher give out the rest of the cards to the students (for this game I prepared cards for 15 students, you can add more), and start the game by saying: "I have bee, who has t - r - ee ?".
The students that has tree answers: "I have tree, who has r - ea - d?". And so it goes until the last card, that has the word "b - ee" (that is the word of the teacher card).
The first time you play will probably be a mess, but then student will get used to the game and they will love it! Don't give up!

This is a resourceful Powerpoint you can use in class so as to work with EMOTIONS as well as colours with the story The colour monster, belonging to Anna Llenas. You can add your voice and play the role of each character the moment you are displaying the images. Students at kindergarten really love the little monster and they are instantly aware of what you are talking about.
Hope you find it useful!
Many thanks!

How to Use this Resource:
  1. Back-to-School Icebreaker: kick off the school year with a fun and informative activity. Have your students complete their flap books as a way to introduce themselves to the class. To add an element of mystery, collect the flap books and randomly distribute them. Challenge the class to guess who each flap book belongs to based on the informative content inside. This not only reinforces the features of informative text but also makes for an engaging icebreaker.
  2. Feature Exploration Stations: create interactive stations in the classroom, each focusing on a specific feature of informative text (e.g., headings, details, conclusion). Have your students rotate through these stations with their flap books, applying and practicing each feature as they go. This hands-on approach allows for targeted skill development while keeping the activity dynamic and educational.
  3. Student-Teacher Conferences: use the flap books as a basis for one-on-one conferences with students. Discuss the content, ask clarifying questions, and provide personalized feedback on their use of informative text features. This individualized approach not only reinforces the importance of these features but also allows for a deeper connection between teachers and students as they share personal stories.
These ideas aim to integrate the features of informative text seamlessly into classroom activities while also incorporating a back-to-school theme and an element of curiosity.
