I did this worksheet as a way to evaluate the "we love books" unit. We used it after reading a book together, but you can adapt its use according to your students age and ability. For example, you can give each student a book and have them do the activity individually. It's great for working story sequence!

This activity is for learning fiction and nonfiction. I think it's great for using at the beginning of fiction and nonfiction unit, because it's very clear to understand the concepts of things that are real and fantasy. I did it with words and pictures so you can use it with very young kids and also older. They have to cut each statement and classify them in fiction and nonfiction!

Planning my first book!

Planning my first  book is a very adjustable worksheet. Younger students can plan their fist book by using only pictures, while older students can use drawings and writing. The planning includes the characters, settings and the sequence of the book: beginning, middle and end. I'm having my students plan their fist book in pairs, so they can have some team work! And of course this requires a lot of monitoring from the teacher.
The idea is that after the planning, they can start creating their books.

This is a great center activity to learn about food! In this material you will find fruits, vegetables, grains and dairy. Every shopping cart has a different "shopping list". At the end of the documents are little cards of food to match their shopping list. You can give this material infinite different uses. I like giving each student a shopping cart and pair them up. They have to ask their classmate the food they need, find them among all the food cards and put it in their cart. They can then get a new cart and repete.

This worksheet is great to practice the use of scissors, school supplies vocabulary and sorting skills. Students have to cut the pictures at the bottom on the page and sort them by school supply or not school supply. Have them color the pictures when they are ready so it looks more beautiful!

This little cards are very useful for early reading. They have a dot right under each letter and then an arrow all along. The dots are for segmenting sounds, so I tell my students they are buttons and they have to make the sound of the letter when you push them. Once they did all the sounds, they have to blend them while going throughout the arrow. It is very helpful for them to understand the blending and segmenting sound. I printed a few sets of cards, cut them, laminated them and put them together on a ring so they can use them independently in centers or to take home for reinforcement.

Who doesn't like bingo? This is a very fun way to practice school supplies vocabulary. The document includes 8 bingo cards and the pictures to play the game. My students loved playing this while they were using the school supplies words.

This booklet is a great way for working initial writing, pencil grip and fine motor skills while practicing school supplies vocabulary. I printed the pages, cut them in half and stapled them together as a booklet. Students have to trace the words, color the school supplies and at the end, they have to choose their favorite school supply, draw it and write it by themselves.

I made this flashcards for the "day and night" themed week. I used them as examples of different things we can do according to the moment of the day. We sort them up and classify them under the day and night sign (at the end of the document). They are very self explanatory and easy to understand.

We used this flashcards during the "day and night" themed week. We mixed the animals and had the kids sort them up in diurnal and nocturnal animals. We also printed two set of flashcards and used them as a memory game! My students loved it.
