Graduated in Education. I lived in the United States for 35 years and currently live in Chile, therefore I am a native bilingual. I have taught English as a second language for more than 22 years in schools and adults (companies), conducting classes in a personalized environment with one student, as well as in groups. Much of my experience has been in schools and adults in the workplace. I also had the opportunity to prepare students for the University of Cambridge PET and FCE tests with a 98% certification. My methodology is mainly focused on the development of communicative language skills, sometimes role plays where there is an emphasis on real life situations and/or contexts. My goal is that my students learn to develop critical thinking while they learn to order, accept offers, be able to decipher and explain things. That they learn to express preferences, opinions, feelings and expectations, as well as their personal experiences. When I teach young children, I use the TPR method, Total Physical Response, as it has been very helpful in remembering vocabulary and staying focused. I combine my methods and keep a journal of my observations where I reflect and brainstorm based on my approach as to which method may require a change or adjustment. I like to use a direct approach in the English language where the student learns naturally and instinctively.
